Marieke van Donkersgoed was born in the Netherlands and raised between cultures on several continents. She fell in love with this area like so many others do, when her new husband introduced her to the Bayfield Peninsula in 2000. They made their home and raised their son on a wooded acreage in the Washburn countryside. Marieke has a background in business organization and marketing and is also interested and involved in life coaching. Having moved seven times in her adult life, she understands the emotional impact of home searching, buying, and selling. She prides herself in having guided hundreds of clients through the (sometimes challenging) process with success, leading to many friendships with those who settled in the area with her help.
Marieke loves to read and write and to establish deep relationships and connections. She enjoys being involved in the economic, cultural, and natural wellbeing of the area and its people. Currently President of the Washburn Chamber Board, Marieke is actively involved with efforts to keep the local communities healthy and sustainable, while also protecting the natural beauty of Lake Superior and her surroundings. Marieke has been in the Bayfield area real estate business since 2003 and earned her stripes with close to 40 million dollars’ worth of transactions. She has ownership in Broad Street Brokers LLC and is responsible for daily operations as Supervising Broker.
